I have rented cars with worse touch interfaces than this. It isn't as smooth and responsive as my phone, but not to the point where its annoying. It is a tad pricey, I would say if this hit the $50 mark it would be the perfect price point. It integrates perfectly with my style of driving/music listening. Makes my life easier, and it looks good too. This is just SO easy.įor my uses, this thing rocks. I used to have to take my phone out, plug it in, mount it, and unlock it before it would start. It just all autostarts right where I left off. The big bonus for me is that I can leave it in my car, and I never have to take my phone out of my pocket to listen to music. It honestly isn't that much different than Android Auto, which I like. I love the scroll button on the side, and the quick touch buttons on the top are slick. I actually swapped out my old phone mount for the Spotify included CD player mount because it sits closer to the dash and it looked real weird with the tiny screen jutting out 5 inches from my console. So I ordered the Car Thing.įirst, its SUPER small. With the news that Android 12 will essentially kill Android Auto for your phone and force you into the Android Assistant app I was real worried, because I use this 98% of the time just for listening to music. Works great, no problems most of the time. For years I have just used my phone with a CD player mount and Android Auto. I have an older car that doesn't have a fancy screen or any of that jazz, but it does have bluetooth. I received it a few days ago and hooked it up to my car. So I haven't seen a ton of posts about the Car Thing in this sub, so thought I would throw down my 2 cents.
